The CB1 area is an increasingly significant business hub of Cambridge. The transformation of Station Road has been central to this. The area is now home to top tech and corporate brands that have helped put Cambridge on the national and international map including Microsoft, Amazon, Apple, Raspberry Pi, Arm, Thales, Deloitte, Carter Jonas and Birketts.
The railway station brings in thousands of people every day but the area is also well-serviced by buses and the station car park is an affordable and convenient facility too. The huge indoor cycle park, CyclePoint, now means employees can securely park their bikes by the station and continue on to their work places locally or afar. CB1 is a vibrant business cluster – and continues to grow.

The Cambridge Business Improvement District (BID) was established in 2013, and in November 2017 was expanded to include Station Square and the CB1 estate. The BID is an initiative that supports Cambridge companies by creating opportunities for staff and business development, sharing knowledge and fostering B2B trading. Their distinctive bowler-hatted ambassadors offer advice on more than 1,200 local shops, bars, cafes, attractions and entertainment services to tourists, workers and residents to help make the most of their time in Cambridge. They also report on environmental and other issues, ensuring Cambridge is the best it can be. View the BID area and also their Safe & Clean instructions for businesses on rubbish, rough sleepers and begging.
Throughout the year, Cambridge BID organises events such as Independents’ Week, Loving Summer, the Christmas lights in the city centre and ‘Big Switch On’. The BID will work with the CB1 Development team to host events and activities, making full use of the different paved and green areas on the site.
