In the latest instalment of the CB1 interview series, we spoke with Sarah who owns the new F45 training studio due to open shortly at 60 Station Road. In this interview, we chat to Sarah about her business and about CB1.
What are the services you will be offering at F45?
F45 is a class based functional training studio. We will offer 45 minute classes. Classes are a mix of cardio focus on Monday, Wednesday and Friday and then a slower pace and resistance focused class on Tuesday and Thursday. Saturday is an hour long class which is a mix of both strength and cardio.
F45 is accessible to all levels from beginners to those that are very fit. The classes are time based so everyone can go at their own pace.
We will offer classes 7 days a week starting early on weekdays also through lunchtime and after work. Also, there will be classes on weekend mornings.
We have a mix of personal trainers who teach the classes; every class has 2 trainers and all trainers have different skills and experience to offer advice and guidance to all members.
F45 is class based however due to the technology used in class, the trainers are free to give one on one support.
We are currently offering 1 and 2 week trials for people to come and find out what F45 is all about.
Why did you choose CB1 and 50/60 Station Road to locate to?
CB1 has been an area that I have travelled through almost every day for over 10 years as a commuter so I have seen it change and evolve. There is great footfall in CB1 and a great mix of people. The CB1 population is constantly growing as buildings such as 60 Station Road open and further development happens. Whenever we tell people where the studio is the response is always “wow what an amazing location”.
What do you think F45 will add to the CB1 Estate?
I feel F45 will fill a much needed gap in CB1; there isn’t any other service like F45 and residents seem to want a fitness option. CB1 will grow over the years to come so I hope to see more businesses open and more diversity in terms of what there is to offer. Some more unique and health focused food and drink options would also complement us too.
You ran some well attended pop-up classes during Wimbledon and met some of the employees and residents on CB1. Are you looking forward to further becoming part of the community?
Absolutely. We want to support the corporate businesses in CB1 and are keen to be involved in any wellness programmes etc. We also look to offer private hire of the studio for things such as team building events. Equally, we will also look to work with local residents in and out of the studio. We want to offer some challenges out of the studio too.
What are your hopes for the future of the business and the CB1 Estate?
Ideally I’d like to see F45 build a strong community of members. Community is one of main values of F45 and one of the main goals for us. In the longer term I would like to do more studios in or out of Cambridge.
As I mentioned earlier, I hope that CB1 and the residents integrate well and work together to make the area more varied and vibrant.
